A concept brought to life 2021 — 2026

What if your
city had no limits?

SpaceMobile began as an imaginative urban transportation concept in Figma. Years later, its original aircraft, character, and color returned as a working animated experience.

01 THE ORIGINAL IDEA

More than a ride.
A new perspective.

The original SpaceMobile design explored a simple speculative question: what might booking a short journey across a city feel like if flying vehicles were part of everyday life?

The 2021 Figma concept established a playful visual identity, a lavender world, three characterful vehicles, and a straightforward pickup → flight choice → ride choice journey.

It also imagined two adjacent services: AiR DJ, live music above the city, and CHUTER, care packages delivered to communities.

02 THE DESIGN DNA

Meet the fleet.

The aircraft illustrations and original concept names remain central to the identity in V2.

Single Seater

Just you and the view.

Original concept fare $5–$7

Vehicle names, art, and price ranges are preserved from the concept. Fares are illustrative and no payment is taken.

03 FROM STATIC TO INTERACTIVE

One concept.
Two chapters.

CHAPTER ONE / FIGMA

Imagining the journey.

Design the visual world, explore the flight-selection journey, establish the service concepts, and present a clickable Figma concept for Thinkful.

CHAPTER TWO / V2 & V2.1

Making it move.

Turn the original design into a responsive, interactive web experience: route selection, capacity-aware aircraft choices, a flight state machine, animated boarding, saved trips, and service-plan demonstrations.

04 EXPERIENCE DESIGN

Take a little flight.

V2 makes the central interaction tangible without claiming that real vehicles, payments, or geolocation exist.

01

Choose two stops

Explore six illustrative locations in San Francisco and set a pickup and destination.

02

Find your aircraft

Choose a vehicle that fits the party, or split larger groups into multiple flights.

03

Watch the sky move

Board and experience an animated, simulated journey across a concept map.

04

Keep a little history

Revisit receipts and plans saved to the current browser. Reset everything for the next visitor.

BEYOND THE FLIGHT / 01

AiR DJ

A music experience from above. The app lets visitors make a local demo plan.

CHUTER

Care drops with a community focus. Visitors can explore a simulated care-plan flow.

05 DESIGN REFLECTION

Keep the magic.
Show the limits.

The most important decision was to preserve SpaceMobile's personality while clearly distinguishing fantasy from functioning transportation infrastructure.

01

Preserve the recognizable identity. The original fleet, logo, color language, AiR DJ, and CHUTER imagery remain part of the experience.

02

Make the interaction legible. Every step has a reason to exist, from route choice through saved simulated flights.

03

Be transparent. The map is illustrative, the trips are simulations, and the app does not collect payments, track GPS, or dispatch vehicles.

04

Leave space to iterate. Some original Figma backgrounds remain unavailable, and full browser/device accessibility review is an outstanding release gate.
